About

Welcome to my personal website

Hey! I’m Martin Vuillème [pronounce] (he/him), a residential youth worker, an atypical citizen scientist and an occasional illustrator living in the French speaking part of Switzerland.

I *deeply* care about improving outcomes for looked-after youth and care leavers hence various projects, tools and reviews on residential care. Preventing placements, and how to better support or include families and youth workers are also subjects of interest, though I tend to focus my attention on youth *in care already* or on young people that will soon reach their majority whilst in care – that focus is explained by my employment in that setting.

I’m also passioned by research on research (meta-research), research methodology (evidence syntheses such as systematic reviews and scoping reviews, n-of-1 trials and randomised controlled trials in particular) and an advocate for open science.

Before working in residential care I studied computer sciences and nursing and spent some time as a teaching assistant in special education schools. I also volunteered for the Cochrane organization for a handful years as an enthusiastic translator and artist, which is how I got into research in the first place.

When not conducting borderline-unfeasible research pet projects I like to go cycling, to spend time in the wild and to collect edible mushrooms in Canton Vaud’s countryside.

This website is meant to emphasize current projects that may require collaboration, along with sharing artefacts I have created over the years such as scientific comics and illustrations, presentations, database search filters to identify residential care data, datasets and miscellaneous guidance. My hope is that they can be of some help to youth, peers and any other interested stakeholders and gradually contribute to the creation of a Swiss community of practice.

You can contact me via email (martin.vuilleme@gmail.com) or through Mastodon (@MartinVuilleme@vis.social) for any thought or question.

Thank you for your curiosity!
